Reorganizing the original app to make public transportation safer and more accessible

Public transportation is scary.

Especially as a college student who is taking it for the first time. With this redesign, my team and I aimed to ease the anxiety of public transportation (that we know all too well) by allowing simplicity and intuition guide the user through the app and to their destination.

After assessing the original app, our team conducted interviews to understand people's experience with the both the app and the BART itself. Here we discovered 3 behaviors and needs that would guide what we focused on in our redesign.

As the original app was too clunky, our team decided to strip down the app completely and build it from the ground up based off our user research. Besides simplifying the navigation, we utilized responsive elements that kept users informed in real time.

Due to project limitations and time constraints our team was only able to build and prototype three out of the five features we envisioned, and if given more time we would've explored them to see our complete redesign come to life.
