The Medium is the Massage
Redesigning an entire book, enforcing its message in a different way
Book Layout
Marshall McLuhan sees the medium, or the presentation of information, as having much more of an effect on us than the actual information itself. The way that it’s heard, tasted, touched, smelled, or seen, alters the way that we understand what is being communicated to us.
Fun fact: The book was originally ordered as a soft cover, so I had to make my own hard cover and attach it to the base book
The cover of the book contains a window that the reader can squish and move around, reflecting the way that McLuhan describes the medium as stimulating our senses, almost like a massage.

In order to activate the reader's senses, different materials and interactive elements were designed and inserted by hand.
